Poggenpohl Merges Classic and Modern

With its new +Edition collection of kitchen cabinetry, Poggenpohl is blending classic good looks with a modern aesthetic.

The Herford, Germany-based company has been building custom kitchen cabinets since 1892, with bragging rights to the first white lacquer kitchen furniture, the first ergonomic work-top heights, and the development of the kitchen island.

The new collecton combines a natural walnut wood veneer with white lacquer cabinetry, all available in flat panel or thin frame detail door styles.

“It’s an answer for clients who want a modern kitchen, but a softer feel,” says Jennifer Fordham, Poggenpohl’s Dallas showroom designer. “A lot of clients come to us for the Poggenpohl quality and design but want a more transitional look.”

It’s a sleek look, with new black glass upper wall cabinets that include the same thin frame details with finished interiors and LED lighting.

The new collection offers a choice of frame styles. Its traditional framed doors have rounded, milled edges for the classic ‘window frame’ look. Alternatively a crisper, cleaner look can be achieved with the clear-cut frame style. The wood veneer is available in a lighter, core ash finish, and optional colors include a softer white and grays.

It’s available in all 50 states and around the world, though prices can change from market to market. “In Texas, cabinets start at $20,000 depending on the finish, but they could be less in markets with smaller kitchens,” she says. “In Texas, people love the wood veneer and the framed door – they’re very popular.”

Not to mention the attention to detail from a company with a reputation for striving toward perfection.
