Five Concerts in FLW-Designed Homes

A series of four house concerts in suburban Chicago and one in southwestern Wisconsin during the next few months will raise funds for the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture.

The season finale will be held at Taliesin, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

“Last year’s concerts raised more than $40,000,” said Sandra Shane DuBow of the sponsoring organization, Taliesin Table.  “With the funds, we were able to repair the Steinway piano at Taliesin, and help with faculty salaries also.”

Wright established the School of Architecture as the Taliesin Fellowship in 1932.  The school is fully accredited and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in architecture.  The school operates seasonally between Taliesin in Spring Green, Wis. and Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The series opens on May 15, 2011 at the Coonley House in Riverside, Ill. and concludes at Taliesin on Sep. 4, 2011.

The first four concerts will be hosted on Sundays at 1 p.m., and tickets are $95 apiece. The Taliesin event begins with a reception in the living room at Taliesin at 5 p.m., followed by a formal dinner and concert in the Hillside Theater on Wright’s estate.  The ticket price is $250.  A portion of all the ticket price is tax deductible.
