It’s not enough to offer short-term rentals around the world, with houses and apartments designed by the likes of Frank Lloyd Wright, Rudolph Schindler and Le Corbusier.
No – now Boutique Homes is partnering with a Spanish couple to rent 13 apartments in a classic Art Nouveau building in the heart of Barcelona.
“We were approached by a design team called DestinationBCN,” says Mariana McConnell of Boutique Homes. “We love their style, and how they presented the apartments.”
It’s easy to see why.
Anne Nijstad and Miklos Beyer carefully designed the apartments, taking cues from a location that’s steps away from Plaza Catayuna and nestled between the architectural Gothic Quarter and the upscale Eixample District.
“They’re near all the wonderful Gaudi architecture, the wandering streets and all the fanciful, whimsical designs that Barcelona specialized in the pre-Franco years,” she says.
The apartments are all two to three bedrooms, ranging from 700 to 1,800 square feet. None looks alike; each is its own space with its own character. All are furnished with a tasteful mix of old school furnishings and modern, Catalonian artwork, for quirky combinations that are chic and fresh.
“They’ve paid attention to the spaces, and how the indoor and outdoor flow together,” she says. “It’s nice to stay in an apartment where someone shows an appreciation for good design.”
Moreover, they’re affordable, ranging from 150 to 300 euros per night, depending on the number of guests.
