Architects + Artisans is a sophisticated, well-informed source of architecture, art and design for the 21st century.

It’s written and edited by J. Michael Welton, whose work on architecture, art and design has appeared in a number of national publications, including The Washington Post, The New York Times, Dwell and New York magazine.  He also is architecture critic for the News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C.

Links to his  writing can be found at:

He is also the author of “Drawing from Practice: Architects and the Meaning of Freehand,” from Routledge Press.

A + A seeks to wire itself into the coolest design trends on the planet. It links itself to and honors the opinions of those who wish to do the same. Ultimately, this is an online magazine dedicated to the concept of creating a community where thoughtful design for a sustainable world is not a phrase, but a way of living and working.

It was created with the help and support of art director Ann Rudy and web navigator Tola Oguntoyinbo.
