A Salon for Serious Photography

From Walker Evans to Helmut Newton to Steve McCurry and every photographer in between, the fine art photography at Hamburg Kennedy Photographs in Manhattan runs the gamut.

“We want a spread of work,” said Suzanne Hill.  “We believe people want a selection.  Some may be dedicated to a collection, and others to an artist.”

Currently located at Madison Avenue and 36^th Street in Manhattan, the private art advisory service opened a salon in Southampton this past summer.

Owner Marla Hamburg Kennedy has more than three decades of gallery experience.  She’s tailored her career to working with collectors of fine art photography.

“Photography collectors are not like those who collect sculptures or paintings,” Suzanne said.  “Some are into architecture, or works involving the figure, or botanicals – or even one photographer, like Henri Cartier Bresson.”

Clients range from those with an extensive existing collection to those just starting out, with listings below $500 on its web site.

“We don’t have a huge inventory on our walls,” she said.  “But we can access about two thousand works.”
