On the first floor of Chicago’s Merchandise Mart, Delta Faucet Company has opened a 3,100 square-foot interactive showroom for architects, designers and homeowners.
The company calls it DREAM20. Others call it faucet heaven.
“It’s like a playground, rather than a museum where you can look but not touch,” said Brian Nobbe, brand director for Delta’s Brizo brand, known for its touch-activated faucets. “Architects and designers can bring their clients in to see a working kitchen or shower in a bath. You can feel it first-hand.”
The intent of the showroom is to educate, rather than to sell, in a low-pressure environment. More than 90 fully-functioning faucets are on display in kitchen and bath settings.
The showroom features a touch wall with a photo library that can scale and rotate images, view product details and 360-degree renderings, and modify the finish on-screen. Along with a showroom-exclusive iPad® app that comes complete with full product catalogs for both Delta and Brizo products, users can create an account to save products to a “favorites” library, and email information about specific products.
“We want people to be inspired,’ he said. “We want to show them all that they can choose from, so they can think bigger and broader. We’re taking the risk out so people can try it out.”
Ninety percent of the materials used in the showroom have been recycled. Bamboo floors, porcelain tile, and recycled carpet are used throughout the space.
